Education

Vanhulle Dance Theatre are passionate about their education work and nurturing children and young artists. Year round, the company work closely with aspiring performers, to deliver meaningful, inspiring, and high-energy residencies and workshops.

Vanhulle Dance Theatre (VDT) are specialists in primary and secondary school dance education. They deliver fun, unique and meaningful dance experiences that focus on confidence building, resilience and teamwork. Laura and Oliver have extensive experience working with children and tailoring dance workshops for the curriculum. They have worked with an education specialist to hone their skills and are fully DBS certified. VDT have experience working with children with SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities), they regularly work with young boys experiencing dance for the first time, challenging stereotypes and celebrating individualism.

Throughout 2024 they have delivered over 50 school performances, and over 100 workshops to primary and secondary schools. VDT were also commissioned by The Place to create Olive Branch…Playground Edition, which toured to primary schools across the UK.

Whether students actively engage in dance or whether it’s their first time, VDT offers an unforgettable experience that uses movement to go beyond what words can explain.

  • SEN School London - Teacher feedback

Thank you for the lovely day you offered us, both students and staff. We all enjoyed watching and

admiring your performance, which we found such an inspiring and emotional piece of art.

Students absolutely loved the session of the workshop and their engagement was very high

throughout the day. They were able to express their thoughts and feelings, communicate and this

thanks to your ability to inspire them. Even the students with challenging physical behaviour were

able to sit and listen, execute movements and work as part of a team, and for me, this is such an

achievement. Your workshop helped the students to lower into their deeper inner selves and gave

them an opportunity to think about their place in the world.

We would love to have you back!
